After all I didn’t want to pay for Bearblog (for the rest of my life). And the import and export facilities were non-existent or too barebones for my liking. So I’m back with Hugo. Since the last move, Codeberg Pages had gone in maintenance mode, so no longevity there. After looking around for a European alternative for hosting a static website, I found statichost.eu. It’s really simple, but just “good enough”.
As of today, my website is hosted by Bearblog. I’ve been switching blog platforms more than I have written posts. Well, kind of. Over the last years, I have been using markdown files, managed in a git repository and published to a static site using Hugo. Initially with Netlify, but more recently with Codeberg Pages. Unfortunately, designing my site and the technicalities of publishing content was taking more time than I wanted. Although it’s a hobby, this started bugging me. So I’ve been looking for a simple and light platform that would allow me to focus on writing, instead of ‘coding’. ...
Sinds vandaag wordt mijn persoonlijke website gegenereerd met Hugo en gehost door Netlify. Het voordeel hiervan is, dat ik geen software op een server meer hoef bij te houden. Ik was bijna meer tijd kwijt met het updaten en controleren, dan met het schrijven van content. En, niet onbelangrijk, hierdoor heb ik bij mijn persoonlijke domein geen hostingpakket meer nodig, wat me dan direct €75,- per jaar scheelt.
