After all I didn’t want to pay for Bearblog (for the rest of my life). And the import and export facilities were non-existent or too barebones for my liking. So I’m back with Hugo. Since the last move, Codeberg Pages had gone in maintenance mode, so no longevity there. After looking around for a European alternative for hosting a static website, I found statichost.eu. It’s really simple, but just “good enough”.
Waarom overstappen? Ik ben al jaren een zeer tevreden gebruiker van Fastmail. Je vraagt je misschien af waarom ik onlangs dan toch ben overgestapt naar mailbox.org. Goede vraag. Daar zijn eigenlijk drie redenen voor: Mijn driejarige abonnement bij Fastmail, met korting, loopt binnenkort af. Verlenging zou me ongeveer 50 euro per jaar kosten en ik zou de korting kunnen verliezen als ik overstap naar een jaarabonnement. For years I have been reading news and blogs via RSS. At first via Bloglines and later Google Reader. When that was no longer possible, I searched for alternatives for a while. After some time with hosted FeedWrangler and self-hosted TinyTinyRSS, I eventually settled with Feedly. Until recently. The fact that a lot of my personal, private interests are processed by a company made me look out for privacy friendly options. I usually read content on my iPhone or iPad, but sometimes also on an Mac. For phone and tablet I have been using multiple succeeding versions of the paid for Reeder app. I didn’t want to buy their Mac app, so Feedly conveniently allowed me to use their browser based app. ...
